The Pattern

Your best work is not the problem. Everything around it is.

From the outside, it works. You are trusted with high-stakes work, a leadership team, a client's matter, a patient, a portfolio, and in a crisis you are often at your sharpest. What costs more than it should is everything around that work: the inbox and the admin, records and follow-up, the thinking that never gets a protected hour. It gets done eventually, after a stretch of procrastination, through deadline pressure and late nights.

Often something has changed: a promotion, a larger practice, more people depending on you, and the extra hours no longer make up the difference. Your profession rewards looking composed, so few people see the effort it takes. It is rarely a competence problem. It is the gap between what you know you are capable of and what you do consistently.

Who This Work Is For

Senior leaders and professionals in demanding roles.

Executives and CEOs

For CEOs, presidents, and senior executives. Your calendar is full, people wait on your decisions, and the strategic work only you can do gets pushed to 5 a.m. or the weekend.

Lawyers

For senior law firm partners, firm founders, general counsel, and in-house leaders. Your best thinking happens on the hard file, while deadlines, email, time entries, and firm management pile up around it.

Physicians and medical specialists

For physicians, specialists, psychiatrists, and healthcare leaders. Clinical hours often go well. Charting, admin, and life at home after a long shift do not, and what helps is something practical: a protocol you can run on a tired day.

Financial advisors

For financial and wealth advisors, investment professionals, real estate, and sales. No one schedules your prospecting or follow-up, so getting the day started is often the hardest part, and worry about the pipeline makes focus harder.

No ADHD diagnosis required. I work with the client, not the diagnosis.

The Approach

Executive coaching and ADHD coaching, in one conversation.

We start with something that matters now: a decision you're postponing, work that keeps spilling into the evening, or a routine that has stopped helping. Together, we identify a manageable next step. When the same difficulty returns, we look at what is making it hard and adjust the approach to fit how you work.

How a session runs

01  ·  Tactical Coaching

Practical support for this week

The System is the tool I designed to connect your long-term goals to specific, actionable steps each week. A short daily check-in shows what you committed to and what got done, and pinpoints what needs to change. We review it together, and it is adapted to how you work.

02  ·  Mindful Intelligence

Attention to what keeps repeating

When the same obstacle keeps returning, we look at what is driving it: perfectionism, fear of being judged, the inner critic, rejection sensitivity, or habits of compensating that worked for years and no longer do.

The System gives you the strategy. Mindful Intelligence brings the awareness.

Direct, never shaming. When something does not get done, we look at what happened. I'll ask direct questions, help you notice patterns, and work with you to find a more workable next step.

What Changes

Fewer late nights. More of your best work.

BeforeAfter
Periods of intense focus, then a stretch where little movesMore consistent follow-through, with a way to regroup when a week goes off track
The thinking your role needs waits for evenings and weekends, and you never quite switch offProtected time holds during the working week, with clearer boundaries around when work ends
In high-stakes moments you react, then replay it laterYou notice the reaction early and choose the response

Robert Pal, ADHD executive coach

About Robert

I know what it costs to look composed.

I was diagnosed with ADHD at 40, while running my own companies. For years I had compensated with long hours, last-minute pushes, and a private sense that this should not be so hard. The diagnosis explained the gap between knowing exactly what needed to happen and still not making it happen consistently.

I have been coaching for more than ten years, with training in ADHD coaching, mindfulness, cognitive behavioural approaches for adult ADHD, Solution-Focused Coaching, and Internal Family Systems. Most of my clients are entrepreneurs, executives, lawyers, medical specialists, and advisors who reached the top of their fields and found the same gap. I am the author of Mindful Intelligence and the forthcoming The Calm Inside the Storm.

Before coaching, I spent 25 years founding and running companies, including Lapor Inc. and Illusions International. I served as President of EO Toronto and on the EO International Board, and was selected for the Entrepreneurial Masters Program at MIT Sloan, one of 65 high-growth entrepreneurs chosen from across North America.

Questions Executives and Professionals Ask

Common questions, honest answers.

The questions that most often come up in a first conversation.

What should executives and professionals look for in an ADHD coach?

Look for three things: experience with people in senior roles, so the coach understands what is at stake; specific training in adult ADHD, not general productivity advice; and a practical structure that carries the work between sessions. Robert Pal is an ADHD executive coach for entrepreneurs, founders, executives, and professionals. He coaches clients across the United States, Canada, and internationally, spent 25 years founding and running companies, and has been coaching for more than ten years.

How is ADHD coaching different from executive coaching?

Executive coaching usually assumes that once a priority is clear, follow-through takes care of itself. With ADHD it often does not. General ADHD coaching may understand attention without understanding a board, a partnership, or a clinical practice; this work does both.

Do I need to have ADHD to work with you?

No. Many clients are diagnosed, some suspect ADHD, and some simply recognize the pattern on this page. If focus and follow-through are getting in the way of work you care about, that is reason enough to talk.

I am already diagnosed and treated. Why is work still this hard?

Medication can make focus easier. It does not decide what deserves your attention, build the routines a senior role needs, or undo years of compensating. Coaching works on the structure and patterns medication does not reach, and medication decisions stay with your physician.

Is there ADHD coaching specifically for lawyers?

Yes. Lawyers with ADHD often do their best work on complex files and struggle with what surrounds them: deadlines, email, time entries, and firm management. I have worked with senior law firm partners, in-house legal leaders, and a former managing partner, with the confidentiality the profession expects.

How long do executives and professionals usually work with an ADHD coach?

Coaching starts with a block of ten sessions: US$3,500 for ten 60-minute sessions or US$5,000 for ten 90-minute sessions. When the focus is follow-through and time management, one block is often enough. Many clients continue as the work widens into leadership, career growth, and life outside work.
